Butterfly Beauties The Divas in Purple (Canoga Park, California) decided to enjoy the beauties of nature together, and took a trip to the Pavilion of Wings, a butterfly exhibit and habitat. They discovered that not only are people everywhere drawn to the bright colors of Red Hatters, but butterflies are as well! The beautiful creatures fluttered happily about, occasionally resting for a moment on a bright red hat or purple shirt. Fortunately, the shutterbugs from the chapter were able to get a few pictures before the butterflies took off again!
Fun Run Queen Jan Dyer of the Glitzy Glams of Glos (Gloucestershire, England), is determined to show that she is not done yet! She signed up to participate in the 5km charity run around Woodchester Park and Mansion in the Cotswolds, little knowing that the day of the run would be the hottest day of the year. Jan and her daughter began the run, determined to outpace another couple who had entered at the last minute. Jan says, "We ran through brambles, mud, over large tree routes, tall grass, overhanging twigs...1 km came and went as did 2, but 3 and 4 never materialized and we both thought that maybe we would never finish the course or end up in Scotland! Finally saw the end in sight...the last bit was to climb 50 steps to the finish. We both did it with red hat in tow, only to find that the other couple had beaten us and were already sitting down enjoying a cup of tea looking remarkably refreshed, unlike us who looked like we had run the marathon. Later found out that they had given up half way and were escorted back via a shorter route!" Congratulations Jan, on a successful run!
Old-Timey Hatting Ever had trouble finding just the right hat for that special outing? The Tansi Tarts (Crossville, Tennessee) solved that problem: they made their own! After making plans to attend a luncheon theater presentation about the Civil War, the group got together and made their own stylish bonnets. When time came to attend the presentation, the group gathered in their Civil War-inspired outfits and bright red bonnets; some might say they stole the show! The group enjoyed the presentation very much; Queen Donna Ferchen and Vice Queen Laura Kappel even got their pictures taken with one of the actors from the show. They are the first group to attend the presentation wearing bonnets; no matter what the era, Red Hatters matter!
Flooded! There's never a dull moment when you travel with the Cacklin Chicks Too, from Indianapolis, Indiana. It began raining on a Saturday morning as the Chicks headed out to Stream Cliff Farms, but the weather at the farm was perfect. After enjoying the lovely flowers and gardens, the group began loading back into the cars; much to their amazement, they were informed that the roads were closing! The ladies quickly headed back to the interstate and began to try to find their way home. After stopping for a break at a fast food restaurant, they were informed that the floodwaters were right behind them! Thinking quickly, they stopped at a store to pick up some emergency supplies and fill their gas tanks. The flood waters continued to rise, cutting off most of the roads, so they stopped at a motel to spend the night and wait out the flood. Fortunately, by morning the waters had subsided, and they were able to drive home. What an adventure, and who better to have with you in case of emergency than your Red Hat sisters!
Ahoy There, Mateys! The Red Hat Queens of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, became brigands last month! Many bold and hearty Red Hatters were invited to the party; eye patches and striped shirts abounded as these cunning corsairs capered through the park. Soon, a treasure hunt was underway, and before long, they discovered a large golden chest! Though each Hatter brought her own picnic lunch, the treasure (and cake!) was shared equally amongst the crew of swashbuckling sweeties. Shiver me timbers!
Oops! The Herzogs Hilarious Hellyun Hairdressers & Healthcare Heifers (Haughton, Louisiana) were excited to honor one of their Pink Hatters with a bridal shower! The chapter members all wore tiaras with tulle veils in honor of the bride, and gave her gift cards for gasoline--to go towards her honeymoon trip! But the real adventure happened on the way to the wedding. Queen Lynda and her friend Lani each drove a car to the wedding, but the two got separated on the road. Finally, Lynda spotted Lani's van, and began following her, only to have the van accelerate to 70, then 80, then 85 miles per hour! Lynda couldn't understand why Lani would be driving so recklessly, until the van slowed and pulled onto a dirt road. Suddenly, Lynda realized that van didn't belong to Lani at all: she'd been following the wrong vehicle! Lynda and her friends were still laughing when they finally arrived at the wedding, and found Lani calmly waiting for them. Fortunately, the wedding went off without a hitch, and everyone had a fantastic time. Congratulations to the new bride!
A Red Hat Day Do you enjoy amusement parks? The Devilish Divas of Tampa, Florida, certainly do! They recently took a day trip to Busch Gardens; of course, everyone recognized their bright red hats, and commented on them. Their entrance was announced by a stilt-walker, and even had tourists from other countries greet them! Queen Adriana Corfield, age 73, defied all expectations and rode the Scorpion rollercoaster--which drew quite a crowd! Of course, this chapter also stopped to see HATS! the Musical at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts center, and had a fantastic time. Keep playing, ladies!
A Popular Prank! We all know that Red Hat ladies like to have fun, and what's more fun than a good practical joke? A chapter attended the San Diego County Fair, and managed to garner not only the attention of the fairgoers, but of a news crew as well! Check out this video for the story: Click Here
