At the first gathering of a new group or if you’ve never done this before, the Queen would wear a rather plain hat. She passes the hat to the hostess of the next event, who would wear it with some new decorations attached to it. The Hat keeps getting passed from hostess to hostess until it was deemed fully decorated and a new one would be presented to start the process over again!
